Care instructions

After receiving your new plant or flowers, many people are scared of killing it and we understand the fear. Plants need care and sometimes people do not have a natural green thumb. Most people are not aware, but you can make your flower arrangement last longer if you know what to do. Below is our general care instructions to help keep your new plant stay happy and healthy or your flowers last longer. If you scroll further down, we have more specific plant and flower care instructions!

General Care for plants

Sunlight

Place plants in a sunny room with indirect, natural light. If you need to move them, do so gradually. In the winter, when the sun sets earlier, you can try moving plants closer to windows. Avoid setting them to close to the window. Too much or too little light can affect a plant’s ability to thrive.

Watering

Water plants frequently enough to keep the soil damp, but not soaking. Signs of overwatering include wilting, soupy soil, and yellowing or browning leaves. Underwatering can cause leaves to curl, crisp, or drop off, as well as browning leaf tips. Reduce watering as plants grow more slowly in the winter. Water only when the soil feels dry, and avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot.

Dusting

Dust and dirt can build up on leaves and reduce the amount of light they receive, which can affect photosynthesis. You can gently dust leaves every few weeks with a soft, damp cloth or take plants outside to hose them off.

Pruning

Prune off dying leaves to help the plant focus on new growth.

Temperature

Keep the temperature between 65 and 85°F, and avoid placing plants near radiators, A/C units, and vents that can create drafts.
